Robust construction and highly accurate displacement measurement: These are the characteristics of the PMS2 displacement sensor, which detects the position without contact over measurement lengths from 50 to 2000 mm.
The sensor's excellent EMC immunity makes it suitable for use in electromagnetically disturbed industrial environments. Also, worth mentioning is the maximum ripple VSUP <1Vpp. In the PMS2 series, the mechanical detection of linear motion is achieved by a guided or free cursor in which magnets are potted. There is a choice of different cursor versions with a ball joint that compensates for lateral misalignment, or a free position sensor that allows lateral misalignment of up to ±2 mm. Multiple cursors can be used on a single position sensor. This enables applications where shock or vibration are critical.
The robust design with IP67 protection allows the displacement sensor to be used in very harsh environments, as the sealed housing integrates the magnetostrictive sensor element and the electronic. The position evaluation of the magnetic cursor is converted contactlessly into a linear analogue signal of 0...10V or 4...20mA/0...20mA. The magnetostrictive measuring principle is true power-on and provides absolute values with very high accuracy for linear movement measurement from 50 to 2000 mm, even in heavy-duty applications.
