Absolutely reliable: magnetic multiturn encoder HSM22M

Contactless sensor technology offers the highest system stability thanks to true-power-on function

The HSM22M multiturn encoder in Ø22.5 mm metal housing from MEGATRON reliably measures angles up to 3600° (10 turns). Thanks to the true-power-on function, the encoder itself registers angle changes if the supply voltage is lost and provides its exact position as an analogue signal as soon as the supply voltage is restored. In combination with optional redundant electronics, this feature offers maximum operational safety and reliability.

The contactless sensor technology works on the basis of a modern, gradient-based magnetic field evaluation in a processor-supported circuit design. Thanks to this design, the encoder is largely immune to external magnetic fields or changing ambient temperatures. In combination with the precision mechanics, the encoder has an additional advantage in comparison to magneto-resistive methods because it shows no weaknesses in voltage-free measurement value acquisition.

Another special feature of the MEGATRON encoder are the signal plateaus at the beginning and end of the range - they prevent a sudden change in the output signal. The effective electrical angle of rotation is 3600°. On request, the HSM22M can be optimally adapted to the application by a factory-programmable effective electrical angle of rotation in the range of 360° ≤ α ≤ 3600°. The encoder is available for operating voltages of 5 V/DC, 12 V/DC and 24 V/DC and it can be chosen between voltage or current output.

On request with redundant electronics
The optional redundant electronics accommodates a processor with two separate processor cores and has two independent supply voltages as well as galvanically separated signal outputs (6 wires). The redundant electronics can also be ordered with a common power supply and ground (4 electrical connections). The electrical connection consists of single strands 18 cm long.

The encoder housing and the precision mechanics of the encoder are made of metal. The electronics is optimally protected because it is moulded in a plastic carrier and completely encapsulated. The Ø6 mm shaft is made of stainless steel and has a shaft flattening. The metal sleeve bearing offers a lifespan of at least 20 million shaft revolutions. An operational shaft speed of up to 400 rpm is permissible. The HSM22M is the first choice when optimum reliability is required. It is very well suited for precise position detection of winches and actuators. On request, MEGATRON personalizes the multiturn encoder with special shaft design, electrical connections and user-defined output signals.
