Product description: Miniature Switch Stick 821
This miniature switch stick enables robust switching with up to three axes and six microswitches.
The 821 series of miniature switch sticks are finger joysticks for one to three axes, enabling precise switching in a small installation space. With a typical service life of 1 million switching cycles and up to 6 microswitches, the 821 combines compact dimensions with high reliability. This makes it ideal for applications where switching commands must be clearly defined and reproducible.
The stick has clearly perceptible switching points at small deflection angles. In the X and Y axes, the switching angle is typically ±10° to ±15°, and in the Z axis, it is ±30° to ±35°. The return accuracy to the centre position of ±2° and operating forces of 0.8–2 N (X/Y) or 15–60 mN (Z) ensure switching operations are clearly perceptible without overstraining the operator. The 821 has a spring return to the centre position as standard. On request, the Z-axis can also be designed without return.
The 821 can switch electrically at voltages of up to 24 V DC. In the X and Y directions, the microswitches are typically designed for 50 mA at 24 V, and for 100 mA at 24 V in the Z axis. Depending on the variant, the stick can be fitted with two, four or six microswitches, making it suitable for single, dual or triple axis configurations.
Various limiter shapes are available for installation, including square and plus shapes, allowing the movement of the joystick tip to be adapted to the application. The protection class is IP40. In the X/Y versions, a rubber boot provides IP54 protection from above. With a maximum installation depth of 34 mm below the panel and a front panel thickness of 1–2 mm, the 821 can easily be integrated into compact control panels.
Typical areas of application include medical technology, special vehicles, stadium and plant control systems, and coordinate control systems. These applications require a robust joystick with clearly defined functions and a small installation footprint.
