Cooling-fin aluminium enclosure for Eurocards with improved heat dissipation

The small aluminium enclosures of the EUKAP R series consist of two robust cooling-fin profiles made of aluminium (profile A and profile B). Both profile types feature a pronounced fin structure on the enclosure surface, which increases the effective surface area and thereby supports heat dissipation from the installed electronics. The series is designed for Eurocards with a width of 100 mm and a maximum PCB thickness of 1.6 mm.

From the profile combinations A + A, A + B and B + B, three enclosure heights of 54 mm, 79 mm and 104 mm are obtained, each with an external width of 110 mm and an internal width of approximately 100.5 mm. This provides three height options that allow different component heights on the Eurocard to be accommodated within the same enclosure design.

Inside, the profiles have two PCB slots into which the 100 mm wide PCB with a thickness of 1.6 mm can be inserted and precisely positioned. The profile wall thickness of 2 mm, in combination with the fin structure, ensures a robust and mechanically stable enclosure.

The enclosures are supplied as a kit. They consist of two profiles, two end plates and a mounting set with eight self-tapping screws and four transparent PVC enclosure feet (Ø 8 mm × 2 mm) for adhesive mounting. The profiles and end plates are made of aluminium and are natural anodized, with black anodized finish available as an option. This results in a corrosion-protected, durable and visually high-quality surface.

Typical applications for the EUKAP R series include electronic modules in Eurocard format where power dissipation and heat generation are relevant – such as power, driver or supply modules, measurement and control assemblies as well as interface and communication modules that benefit from the improved heat dissipation provided by the cooling-fin structure.
